8.35am
Well there’s obviously not loads to talk about yet as it’s so early. We were in bed by 9.30 last night :-o We were both so tired. I got up at 6 as normal and went for my swim. I did 100 diagonals almost in one go and then got in the Jacuzzi pool for about 5-10 minutes.
Just before we were going to breakfast the maid arrived to service our room.
When we went down to breakfast it was really busy this morning. There’s a sports team staying in the hotel at the moment so they put the numbers up straight away.
We’re going out to honest ed’s with auntie Brenda later – all we’ve done since we got here is go shopping *rolleyes* I’m hoping we’re not out ALL day today so that I’ve got time to go to the gym. When I was in the pool this morning the same lady who has been in the gym every day since we got here was there. I realised this morning she’s also the same lady who was in the gym with me yesterday afternoon / evening.
8.15pm
Well we went out to Honest Ed’s – it needed a bus and train journey but the connection was pretty good. As we were going through the tube station I got a tube map – I was happy LOL Auntie Brenda rang Liz from the tube station who said yes she would meet us there – apparently she hadn’t decided whether she was coming or not.
We met Liz and her husband Barry just outside the store and obviously went in. It’s an enormous store over 3 floors and 2 buildings connected by an internal footbridge. We spent ages in there, in fact Liz and Barry decided to leave before us!! When we were going through the checkout mum had picked up 3 canada plaques but the girl on the till said only one per customer – mum decided she didn’t want just one cos she was bringing them home for friends in England. She wasn’t very happy at that!!
When we came out we decided it was lunch time so we had to find somewhere to eat. We looked at one place but it was really expensive and we figured the meals were probably huge so we decided not to go there. I then saw another café over the road so we headed for that one. As we were walking past the outside of Honest Ed’s we saw some nice skirts in the window for $9.99 but it said they started at size M – XXL so they were no good for me but mum was considering one. We decided to eat first and then we’d possibly go back later.
We went into the café and decided we liked the prices so mum and I just got a cheese and ham sandwich each, AB just had a coffee.
When we came out of there we saw a ‘village market’ so we got a few bits of groceries – there was also an ice cream van outside so we were naughty and had an ice cream each :-D We also did got back into the store for mum to get her skirt – she actually decided to get a pink and a white one :-)
After that we figured it was time to head home so we went back to the subway and again we were lucky with the train – we literally only waited about a minute before the train came :-) Unfortunately we were in rush hour so the train was absolutely jam-packed!!!
At the end of the subway ride we had to get off right near AB’s work so she said we’d go in and visit and we could also see Renee (her daughter, my cousin). She said it was a good time to go in cos we were really close to finishing time so we’d be able to walk out to the bus with Renee. While we were in there it felt like we were a freak show – AB was really pleased / proud for us to be there so every person she saw she was saying “this is my sister and my niece”, it was really obvious she was enjoying it but it felt a little bit uncomfortable for me / us. They were all really nice it was just a weird situation.
Once clocking-off time came Renee appeared so we were hugging etc and we all went out together, Renee and AB both sat and had a smoke before we went for the bus.
AB came back to the hotel with us for a while and we started looking at family photos on facebook – AB hasn’t seen my cousins (her brother’s children) for ages so it was interesting for her to see the pictures.
Mum and I then had to decide on tea – butties again!!
